The Department of Traditional Medicine Management ( Ministry of Health ) has just requested the Departments of Health in provinces and cities to strengthen inspection and supervision of the circulation, trading, and advertising of traditional medicines, with particular attention to An Cung Niu Huang Wan.

This move comes amidst the recent discovery and dismantling of a counterfeit An Gong Niu Huang Wan production and trading ring by authorities. The case in Thanh Hoa shows that the product, advertised as originating from abroad and claiming to prevent and treat strokes, is actually counterfeit and poses a direct health risk to users.
According to the Ministry of Health 's requirements, localities must strengthen inspections of compliance with regulations on wholesale and retail of traditional medicines at establishments in their areas; promptly detect and handle products of unknown origin or suspected of being counterfeit.
Authorities are required to trace the source of supply during inspections and coordinate with the police, market management, and relevant units to prevent and combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit medicines.
One issue that the Ministry of Health is particularly concerned about is the advertising of An Cung Niu Huang Wan on social media platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok. Cases of false advertising, exaggeration of effects, especially promoting the product as a "miracle cure for stroke prevention" to mislead consumers, will be handled according to regulations.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that An Cung Niu Huang Wan is a prescription drug and must be used as directed and under the supervision of a doctor. Pharmacies and drug retailers are not allowed to sell this product to customers without a prescription.
For the public, the authorities recommend purchasing An Gong Niu Huang Wan only from licensed pharmaceutical businesses with invoices, receipts, and clear information about the origin of the product.
You should not buy products sold haphazardly online or believe advertisements claiming they can "prevent stroke".
According to information from the Department of Traditional Medicine Management, as of October 3rd, the Ministry of Health has granted registration certificates for 6 An Cung Niu Huang Wan (a traditional Chinese medicine). People can check the list of licensed medicines on the Ministry of Health's drug announcement system before purchasing and using them.
Previously, authorities also warned about a product called "Korean An Cung Niu Huang Wan (10 pills in a wooden box)" being sold on an e-commerce platform without a product registration certificate. The Food Safety Department requested the platform's management to review, remove the information, and cease selling this product.
