The launching ceremony for the 2026 Vietnam Culture Day took place on the morning of October 3rd in Hanoi. Representing the leadership of Can Tho City at the ceremony was Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism .

In accordance with Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026, of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture, Hanoi City is organizing the first ever Vietnamese Culture Day with the message "Thang Long - Hanoi, a thousand years of civilization - The myriad colors of Vietnam". The launching ceremony aims to honor the cultural traditions of the capital and the cultural diversity of Vietnamese ethnic groups, initiating a series of activities in response throughout the city from now until November 24, 2026.

Within the framework of the Launch Ceremony, Hanoi City signed a Coordination Regulation with 10 provinces and cities regarding the organization of activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village, including: Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Son La, Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Hue City and Can Tho City.

According to the signed agreement, Hanoi and Can Tho will cooperate on the following areas: research and consultation on mechanisms and policies; research, collection, preservation, and promotion of cultural values; promoting the role of ethnic minorities as key players and mobilizing their participation in daily activities; organizing activities and events; education, research, and training; developing cultural and tourism products; promotion, communication, and digital transformation ; and mobilizing and utilizing legitimate resources.

The signed regulations establish a basis for regular, proactive, close, and long-term coordination between the two cities. This will leverage the responsibilities, strengths, and legitimate resources of both localities in preserving, promoting, and showcasing the distinctive cultural values ​​at the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village. Can Tho City will have a mechanism to regularly introduce and promote its unique cultural values, tourism products, festivals, arts, cuisine, and typical traditional crafts at the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village, strengthening exchanges, linkages, and cooperative development between the two cities.

In recent times, Can Tho City has been very active in supporting and participating in activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village. For example, it has participated in activities recreating floating markets and traditional rituals. Most recently, in the August series of activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, Can Tho City participated in many cultural and tourism activities, especially the recreating of the Thak Con Festival of the Khmer people.
