Raising the standard level of preferential allowances for war veterans and social assistance from October 2026.

According to Decree No. 321/2026/ND-CP dated August 15, 2026, of the Government, the levels of allowances, subsidies, and preferential treatment for people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution are regulated. Officially effective from October 1, 2026 , the standard allowance for people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution is 3,012,000 VND, replacing the standard allowance under Decree 77/2024/ND-CP which was 2,789,000 VND.

The benchmark of 3,012,000 VND serves as the basis for calculating the level of allowances, subsidies, and preferential treatment for people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution and their relatives.

According to Government Decree No. 335/2026/ND-CP dated August 21, 2026, which stipulates the social assistance policy and officially takes effect from October 5, 2026, the standard social assistance level is 540,000 VND/month, replacing the standard social assistance level under Decree 20/2021/ND-CP of 360,000 VND/month.

The social assistance standard of VND 540,000/month serves as the basis for determining social allowances, financial support for care and nurturing; care and nurturing services at social assistance facilities, elderly care facilities, disability care facilities, childcare facilities, and other care and nurturing facilities, as well as other social assistance levels.

According to Clause 1, Article 31 of Decree 335/2026/ND-CP amending Clause 1, Article 3 of Decree 176/2025/ND-CP, from October 5, 2026, the amount of social retirement benefits for eligible individuals will be increased from VND 500,000/month to VND 540,000/month.
