In addition to Metro Line 2, with two projects currently underway on the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong and Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem sections, the Ben Thanh - Can Gio high-speed railway project is also being implemented.
In addition, the Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien Metro line, approximately 32.8 km long, starting from Phu Chanh depot to Suoi Tien station, connecting with Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, is also being expedited. Currently, the Urban Railway Management Board is focusing on implementing investment preparation procedures, including finalizing the technology plan dossier; the list of main applicable technical regulations and standards; the feasibility study report on compensation, support, and resettlement; and the route alignment and location dossier for submission to competent authorities for appraisal and approval.

The Thu Dau Mot - Ho Chi Minh City center Metro line is approximately 35 km long, running from station S5 - intersecting with the Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien Metro line - to Tao Dan station, connecting with Metro Line 2 (underground route Ben Thanh - Tham Luong). The project has already been submitted by the Urban Railway Management Board for appraisal of the technological plan, the list of main applicable technical standards and regulations; and the feasibility study report on compensation, support, and resettlement. Simultaneously, the route alignment and the location of structures along the line have been submitted for appraisal and approval.
Metro Line 6, connecting from the Inner Ring Road, Phase 1 will construct the section from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Phu Huu, approximately 23 km long, starting from the Ba Queo intersection on Truong Chinh - Au Co road, connecting at station ST09 of Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section) to the Phu Huu station area. This metro line will then connect with the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is seeking feedback from the Ministry of Construction on the unified list of key regulations and standards to be applied to the project. The Urban Railway Management Board has also submitted the feasibility study report on compensation, support, and resettlement for appraisal, and has submitted the route alignment and construction locations along the line for appraisal and approval.

In addition to the above projects, during the period 2026-2030, the Urban Railway Management Board is conducting research and preparing for investment in the Metro line connecting Vung Tau - Ba Ria - Phu My. To implement the project, the Department of Construction has proposed studying and adding a plan to extend the line to the Long Thanh International Airport area. This will help enhance connectivity between the Ho Chi Minh City urban railway network and important transportation hubs in the region.
Representatives from the Urban Railway Management Board stated that the aforementioned metro lines are currently undergoing expedited investment preparation procedures. This includes, in particular, matters related to technological solutions, technical regulations and standards, route alignment, project location, compensation, support, resettlement, and project approval. The goal is to complete project approvals by December and commence construction on these projects by the end of 2026.
The simultaneous implementation of these projects aims to gradually form a synchronized and highly interconnected urban railway network, enhancing connectivity between urban areas and important transportation hubs. This will meet the growing travel needs of the people and contribute to the completion of Ho Chi Minh City's high-capacity public transportation system.
