This is an annual international cultural diplomacy event, using "culture as the foundation - art as the means" to connect nations, thereby promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding and trust between Vietnam and the international community.
The 2026 World Culture Festival in Hanoi is considered to not only contribute to improving the cultural and spiritual life and aesthetic standards of the people of Hanoi in particular and the whole country in general, but also aims to build a modern cultural and entertainment ecosystem, helping Vietnam catch up with the global creative economy trend, strongly stimulating the cultural and tourism industries, creating jobs and boosting domestic consumption.
The festival is scheduled to take place from October 1st to 4th, 2026, with activities organized at Thang Long Imperial Citadel , Ho Guom Walking Street, and the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village.
The series of events includes eight key components, with the World Cultural Village, organized by the Hanoi People's Committee at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, identified as the central activity. This space is expected to have approximately 50 booths, with each country allocated one booth measuring 20m² (floor area 26m², roof area 18m²) and equipped with a TV, table, two chairs, light bulbs, power outlets, electric fans, and a medium-sized trash can. Simultaneously, a Vietnamese cultural space showcasing traditional Vietnamese culture will also be operated within the framework of the event.
Also at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the city will organize the Five Continents Music Festival , proactively sending art troupes to participate, developing performance programs, and coordinating the installation of professional stage, sound, and lighting systems.
At the same time, the Five Continents Food Festival will offer a culinary cultural space divided by continents: Asia, Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania; each country will have a booth showcasing its distinctive traditional dishes, allowing visitors to experience diverse cuisine and enjoy performances by artisans.
In addition, film screenings and an experiential area showcasing creativity from heritage with the International Games Festival are also held continuously here.
The event also extends to iconic destinations in the capital with two prominent activities. On October 3rd, the " Colors of the Five Continents" street festival will take place at the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street, featuring a parade of Vietnamese ao dai (traditional dress) combined with international costumes as directed by the Organizing Committee.
On the morning of October 2nd, a sightseeing and experiential program will take place at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village in Doai Phuong commune. Here, delegates will visit and learn about the distinctive cultural spaces of Vietnam's ethnic communities, exchange customs and traditions, and enjoy folk art and unique cuisine.
To ensure the event's success, the Hanoi People's Committee has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism as the focal agency in Hanoi to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement it, ensuring quality, progress, and compliance with the law and city regulations.
