Comrade Tran Van Quan, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, together with Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, and other delegates, performed the opening ceremony of AEON Hai Duong Shopping Center.

On the morning of October 3rd, in Thach Khoi ward, Hai Phong city, AEON Vietnam Co., Ltd. held the grand opening of AEON Hai Duong Shopping Center.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Tran Van Quan, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City; Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam; leaders of AEON Group and its partners and businesses; and relevant departments, agencies, and localities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Tran Van Quan emphasized that from AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan to AEON Hai Duong, the continued investment by AEON Group affirms confidence in the development potential and investment environment of Hai Phong city. The center's operation adds a modern shopping, entertainment, and leisure destination, contributing to the development of trade and services and creating more jobs for the people.

The comrade acknowledged the efforts of the investor, the coordination of departments, agencies, local authorities, and the consensus of the people to ensure the project was completed on schedule. Japan is currently one of Hai Phong's important investment partners, with over 200 projects and a total investment capital of approximately 6.5 billion USD. The success of Japanese businesses, including AEON Group, has made a positive contribution to the city's development and the cooperative and friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

Emphasizing the need to maximize the project's effectiveness after its opening, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested AEON Vietnam to operate the center professionally, ensuring the quality of goods and services, controlling the origin and safety of food; strictly complying with regulations on fire prevention and control, and environmental protection. He also stressed the importance of training and protecting the rights of employees, using customer satisfaction and safety as the measure of service quality.

The comrade highly appreciated AEON's focus on green building standards and social responsibility; and requested the company to maintain energy-saving solutions, reduce plastic waste, sort waste, care for green landscapes, and build a civilized and environmentally friendly shopping destination.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, Tran Van Quan, requested AEON to strengthen cooperation with local businesses, cooperatives, and suppliers; support the improvement of quality so that Hai Phong products meet standards and participate more deeply in the group's domestic and international distribution systems. Drawing on the experience of cooperating in the consumption of Hai Duong lychees, he suggested expanding connections with other agricultural products, OCOP products, and other strong products of the city.

The Department of Industry and Trade is tasked with leading and coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and other relevant agencies to develop a specific supply-demand connection program with AEON; acting as the focal point to support and promptly receive and handle business proposals. The departments, agencies, and Thach Khoi ward will cooperate to ensure security, order, traffic safety, and environmental hygiene during the Center's operation.

The city is committed to continuously improving the investment environment and supporting businesses; it hopes that AEON Group will explore expanding its investment and that the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam will continue to support connecting Japanese businesses to explore and establish long-term cooperation in Hai Phong.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Ito Naoki, expressed his pleasure at witnessing the opening of the center after attending the groundbreaking ceremony last April; and thanked the city government and people for their interest and support for AEON Vietnam.

The ambassador assessed that the opening of the Shopping Center in Thach Khoi, an area developing industrial and residential zones, shows AEON's confidence in the local potential. The project also meets the growing shopping and service needs of the people and workers.

According to Ambassador Ito Naoki, in its medium-term business plan until fiscal year 2030, AEON identifies Vietnam as a top priority country, allocating 60% of its total investment in the ASEAN region to Vietnam, aiming to develop 300 stores, from shopping malls to supermarkets.

Affirming that the Japanese Government continues to contribute to Vietnam's development through public-private partnerships, the Ambassador expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Government and the city authorities would continue to listen to and support Japanese businesses in overcoming difficulties, and together promote effective investment and business activities and contribute to the local area.

AEON Hai Duong is built on an area of ​​approximately 3.7 hectares, with a total floor area of ​​about 38,100 m², comprising 3 above-ground floors, combining AEON's direct business area with 37 specialized stores. This is the 10th shopping mall of the AEON Group in Vietnam.

AEON Hai Duong is the 10th shopping mall of the AEON Group in Vietnam, covering an area of ​​approximately 3.7 hectares, with a total investment of about 1,200 billion VND.

The center integrates shopping, dining, healthcare, beauty, and entertainment services, catering to the needs of multiple generations within a family. In addition to a supermarket and specialty stores, the center features a 1,000 m² children's play area, a bookstore, a cinema, a parking lot, and an electric vehicle charging station. Several technologies are incorporated into its operations, such as semi-automatic checkout counters, electronic price tags, and self-service ordering and payment kiosks.

According to AEON Vietnam, the project will create approximately 900 jobs for local workers, including 450 employees working directly in the department store and supermarket area. The center prioritizes connecting and bringing local agricultural products and specialties into the distribution system; and is simultaneously finalizing standards to aim for two green building certifications: EDGE Advanced and LOTUS.
