On the morning of October 3, 2026, at the Hai Phong City Youth Cultural Palace (45 Lach Tray Street, Gia Vien Ward, Hai Phong City), the Hai Phong City Journalists Association held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Table Tennis and Pickleball Cup.
This is a practical activity to commemorate the first anniversary of the Hai Phong City Journalists Association's operation after the merger, and also to welcome the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association , term 2026 - 2031.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Pham Thi To Trang - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong city; journalist Luu Thi Thanh Ha - Deputy Director of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio and Television; Mr. Nguyen Van Lap - Director of the City Youth Cultural Center; and representatives of the Hai Phong Pickleball Federation.
In his opening remarks at the tournament, Mr. Vu Van Uy, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City Journalists Association and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: The 2026 Table Tennis and Pickleball Cup is a meaningful occasion to respond to the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh".
The event creates a healthy and beneficial environment for members, reporters, editors, and staff working at media agencies to socialize, improve their health, strengthen bonds, and foster camaraderie among colleagues from different units and organizations within the Association.
To ensure the tournament's success, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, Chairman of the City Journalists Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, urged the athletes to compete with integrity, courage, solidarity, and a spirit of fair play, providing spectators with exciting matches and beautiful shots. At the same time, the Head of the Organizing Committee also requested the referees to officiate the matches with a high sense of responsibility, ensuring fairness, objectivity, and accuracy, contributing to a united, safe, and successful tournament.
This year's tournament saw enthusiastic participation from teams of athletes from 10 units and press associations: Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio & Television, the City Journalists Association Office Branch, the Senior Journalists Club, Vietnam Navy Newspaper, Nhan Dan Newspaper (Hai Phong resident), Military Region III Newspaper, Hai Phong Security Special Issue, Hai Phong Press Photography Club, the City's Electronic Information Portal, and the Journal of Scientific Research (Sao Do University).
At the tournament, athletes competed in two exciting sports. Pickleball: Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. Table Tennis: Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Men's Team events.
In particular, the overall championship trophy of the Hai Phong City Journalists Association will be awarded to the unit that wins the most first prizes in the competition categories of both Table Tennis and Pickleball.
