As part of the second World Culture Festival in Hanoi in 2026, on the evening of October 3rd, the "Colors of Five Continents" street festival took place in the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake, bringing together domestic and international art troupes, along with artists, artisans, and a large number of Hanoi residents and tourists.

This program is organized by the Hanoi People's Committee in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Thang Long Puppet Theatre.

With the theme "Gathering Heritage - Shaping the Future," the "Colors of Five Continents" festival is designed as an open and vibrant space for cultural exchange.

Through the ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), performing arts, and street activities, the program showcases the unique values of Vietnamese culture, while also creating opportunities for participating countries to share, exchange, and celebrate the distinctive cultural characteristics of each nation.

The highlight of the festival was a parade of Vietnamese ao dai (traditional dress) combined with traditional costumes from other countries, bringing together more than 1,000 people. The flowing Vietnamese ao dai, along with the colorful traditional costumes of various nations, created a diverse and rich cultural tapestry right in the heart of the capital city.

This year's festival features performances by art troupes and cultural organizations from many countries, including: Austria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Laos, Mongolia, Morocco, Philippines, Spain , Ukraine, Peru, Sri Lanka...

The participation of international art troupes brings a diverse range of art forms and unique cultural heritage, from traditional Persian music, Mexican and Peruvian folk dances, traditional UAE performing arts to Korean Taekwondo.

Accompanying the international delegations were members of the lion dance troupe; traditional art artisans and artists; and women from Hanoi, along with the Vietnam Ao Dai Culture Club.

At the ceremony, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Pham Tuan Long, emphasized that the art troupes, artists, and artisans from 18 countries had created a vibrant, open, and emotionally rich international cultural gathering.

Hanoi, the capital city with a thousand years of history and culture, is a dynamic, open, and proactive city that connects with the international community. It has been honored as a "City for Peace" and a "Creative City."

In its journey of integration, Hanoi has always valued culture as the most sustainable bridge, bringing people closer together. Through culture, people can learn more about history, traditions, ways of life, and the core values that each nation is preserving, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of each country's identity.

According to Mr. Pham Tuan Long, the street festival features many vibrant images with Vietnamese ao dai (traditional dress) and traditional costumes from other countries, along with music, folk dances, and performing arts, all present on the streets around Hoan Kiem Lake. Art is brought out of the stage, integrated into the lives of residents and tourists, becoming an integral part of the festival. This is also how Hanoi promotes the value of Hoan Kiem Lake, a special national monument and a symbol of the capital's history and culture.
