Cinema from five continents converges at the second World Cultural Festival in Hanoi - photo 1

The film screenings at the festival will offer diverse glimpses into world cultures. This diversity lies primarily in the origins of the works, and is then expressed through the filmmakers' storytelling about people, communities, history, traditions, and the changes in contemporary society.

The program's highlight lies in its diversity of themes and storytelling styles. From "Hanoi: Five Senses" (Vietnam), " The Rebellious Boy" ( India ), "Freeman" (Australia), " After the Footsteps " (Angola), to "White Eyes" (Israel), " I Am Libyan" (Libya), or "The Distant Flame" (Chile)... each work offers a unique glimpse into the country and its people.

On screen, human values, history, and culture are placed within a specific story. A custom, a living space, a family relationship, or how a community responds to the changes of the times can all become sources of inspiration for a film. In this way, culture is present to the audience through human experience, rather than merely being presented as information.

This is also a noteworthy aspect of the program, given that it is held within a large-scale cultural and diplomatic event. Vietnamese people and tourists have the opportunity to access different storytelling approaches, while participating delegations gain an additional channel to showcase the image of their country to Vietnamese audiences and international friends.

Taking place from October 1-4, the World Cultural Festival in Hanoi, themed " Convergence of Heritage – Shaping the Future," is being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's membership in UNESCO. The festival is not only a platform to showcase the diverse cultures of Vietnam and other countries around the world, but also a space for cultural dialogue, where each nation brings its own unique values and finds common ground amidst diversity.

The festival features 45 cultural spaces, 35 food stalls, film screenings, a fashion space showcasing traditional costumes from 19 countries, and the participation of 20 international art troupes; promising to create multicultural musical exchange spaces throughout the festival.

The opening ceremony will take place tomorrow evening, October 1st, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The ceremony will launch an artistic journey celebrating Vietnam, from the depths of its heritage to a global exchange space. The program is an elaborate blend of traditional heritage and contemporary artistic language.
