VIDEO : White Stone Pass - a mesmerizing beauty on the Northwest road. Da Trang Pass is the border point between Muong Bi and Mai Chau communes ( Phu Tho province). The stretches of pristine white limestone mountains, standing out against the ethereal clouds, create a picturesque scene, a unique landscape along the Northwest Vietnam route. Thung Khe Pass was originally a limestone mountain area. During the process of cutting through the mountain to build National Highway 6, chunks of rock slid down from above, creating a white blanket on the mountain slopes. From a distance, the mountain pass and the surrounding limestone mountains look as if they are covered in snow. It is this unique scenery that has made the name White Stone Pass familiar to those who frequently travel this route. The weather here is quite interesting, with almost all four seasons occurring in a single day. In the morning, it's cool, the sky is sometimes clear and blue, sometimes covered in fog. By noon, the sun shines brighter, the sea mist gradually dissipates, revealing stunning white cliffs. This is also the time when many people choose to stop to admire the scenery and capture special moments. As evening approaches, the temperature gradually drops, and fog begins to envelop the landscape, making it appear hazy. At the top of the pass lies Thung Khe Market, known by tourists as the "market in the clouds." This small market is situated along the roadside, with simple stalls run by local people. The humble houses, tables, and chairs amidst the mountains and forests have become a familiar stopping point for travelers. After a journey along the winding roads, many stop to warm themselves with a cup of hot tea, enjoy sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes, boiled corn, skewers of meat, grilled eggs, or other local produce.
Ms. Le Tu Anh (Hanoi) said that every time she passes by, she stops to admire the scenery. "It's beautiful here in every season. The cloudy, cold weather has its own unique beauty. Especially on sunny autumn days, when the weather is dry, the white limestone formations impress me greatly. The vendors, who are Muong ethnic people, are very welcoming and cheerful. Some people come here to rest and take pictures without buying anything, and the locals are still happy and welcoming," Ms. Tu Anh shared.
Mr. Nguyen Quang (from Phu Tho province) shared that Da Trang Pass possesses a unique beauty amidst the mountains and forests of Northwest Vietnam. It's not only a stop for tourists to admire the scenery, but also a place that preserves simple experiences about the local people and their way of life.
