Prioritize main routes.
Following widespread heavy rains in mid-September, a large amount of water hyacinth and trash along the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin drifted downstream and washed ashore on tourist beaches.
To address this, the River and Sea Environment Team (Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company) mobilizes 100% of its personnel and mechanical equipment daily to intensify garbage removal and cleaning of key tourist beaches.
Faced with the massive amount of waste washing up on the beaches, Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company has mobilized additional mechanical equipment to carry out the cleanup and transport the waste to the treatment facility.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, Team Leader of the River and Sea Environment Team, said that due to the continuous accumulation of trash on the shore, it wasn't until September 27th that the team and the company completed the cleanup of trash generated after two heavy rains, with a total of nearly 400 tons transported to the Khanh Son Solid Waste Treatment Complex. Currently, trash still washes up on tourist beaches sporadically every day, so the team continues to deploy personnel and mechanical equipment to rake, collect, and maintain cleanliness for the benefit of locals and tourists.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy General Director of Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, just before the rainy and stormy season, the company issued a framework plan for disaster response in 2026 to proactively respond to and mitigate the effects of natural disasters. Along with coastal areas, the company identified 31 central city streets in Da Nang that will be prioritized for initial waste collection; 42 other central city streets will be prioritized for waste collection after natural disasters, and the remaining streets...
The Department of Agriculture and Environment stated that, in order to proactively prevent, respond to, and address potential environmental sanitation issues, the department regularly requests units to proactively implement measures to ensure environmental protection during the rainy and stormy season.

In this context, project management boards that are investing in, constructing, and operating waste collection, transportation, and treatment facilities are proactively reviewing and implementing plans to prevent and respond to rain, storms, and floods; promptly handling emerging situations and minimizing the risk of environmental pollution.
Environmental sanitation service providers, including those responsible for collecting, transporting, and processing household waste, are implementing preventive and response plans; mobilizing personnel and equipment to promptly clean up, collect, transport, and process waste immediately after the natural disaster, prioritizing main roads in urban areas and coastal regions.
Addressing environmental incidents in canals and lakes.
Whenever there is heavy rain, wastewater often mixes with rainwater and flows into coastal storm drains, rivers, canals, lakes, etc. Occasionally, pollution occurs at these receiving sources that require treatment.

According to Mr. Ha Van Thanh, Director of the Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company, in mid-September 2026, the company diluted the LTH-88 mineralizer and evenly distributed it on the surface of the drainage ditches from Hoang Van Thai Street to Da Co Canal, Hoa Phu Lake, and B18 Canal in Hoa Khanh Ward to minimize odors and clarify the water.
The foul-smelling and discolored water in the aforementioned series of ditches, canals, and lakes often appears after heavy rains, and the section of the Da Co canal from Da Son road to the bridge over Nguyen Khac Nhu road does not yet have a wastewater collection system.
Currently, the company has proactively coordinated with relevant units to handle incidents occurring in the canals and lakes under its management and will continue to closely monitor water quality developments in this basin to promptly implement appropriate response plans.
According to the Department of Construction, in the long term, to ensure drainage and environmental sanitation, the Da Nang City People's Committee has requested the Da Nang Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation and Agriculture Projects to urgently submit for appraisal and approval the investment policy for the project to upgrade and renovate the drainage canals from Hoang Van Thai Street to Hoa Minh - Phu Loc Canal (B14 Canal) in Hoa Khanh Ward.

At the same time, the Da Nang Project Management Board for Civil, Industrial and Infrastructure Construction Projects is requested to propose an investment roadmap for dredging and renovating Hoa Phu, Phuoc Ly, and Trung Nghia lakes (Hoa Khanh ward), the upstream lake of the Phan Lang canal and Phan Lang lake (An Khe ward), the regulating lake on Nguyen Phuoc Tan street (Cam Le ward), E1 - Hoa Xuan lake (Hoa Xuan ward)...
In the immediate future, during the rainy season, the units managing and operating centralized wastewater treatment plants will proactively assign staff to be on duty, monitor, and operate the plants continuously, stably, and safely; prepare sufficient supplies, chemicals, and necessary backup equipment to meet actual operating requirements and promptly handle any arising issues...
