The "Footsteps on the Clouds" competition, initiated and organized by the Vietnam Law Newspaper since 2023, has contributed to promoting the image of the people and landscapes of Northwest Vietnam over two seasons. It has also attracted those who love experiences and exploration to conquer the peaks of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The event has also boosted tourism in the highlands, helping many villages welcome more visitors.
Following on from previous seasons, in 2026, the organizing committee has chosen the ancient Pavi stone road in Lai Chau as the main race route. This route has a history of over a century, with many sections still retaining relatively intact stone structures, possessing historical, scenic, and cultural value of the northern mountainous region.

This year, for the first time, the organizing committee is expanding the competition to include amateur athletes nationwide. The competition is expected to have a maximum of 500 participants and cover three distances.
The 5km race is for people living and working in Lai Chau. The 11km race is for amateur athletes nationwide. The 22km race is for amateur athletes and members of the press, divided into three age groups.
According to the organizers, bringing athletes to experience the ancient Pavi stone road firsthand contributes to promoting the landscape, culture, and people of Lai Chau, while also raising awareness of preserving historical, cultural, and environmental values in sustainable tourism development.
