Promoting the pivotal role of culture in sustainable development
VHO - On the afternoon of September 26 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Hanoi People's Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold a press conference to provide information about the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi. Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh chaired the press conference.
Attending the press conference were Ambassadors, representatives of embassies, international organizations, foreign cultural centers in Vietnam, leaders of units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi People's Committee and Ministry of Foreign Affairs , along with reporters and representatives of domestic and foreign news agencies and newspapers.

Speaking at the press conference, Permanent Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh said: “The first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi is an important initiative to honor and promote the pivotal role of culture in sustainable development; to be a bridge connecting nations and peoples to overcome all difficulties and challenges of the times such as conflicts, epidemics, climate change, etc.; to join hands to bring the international community to peace and prosperity.
The Deputy Minister also stated that this is the first time the event has been held in Vietnam. The idea of the Festival is that Vietnam can be a place where cultures from around the world converge. Cultural values blend together without losing the identity of each country, but also contribute to promoting the spirit of solidarity, together contributing to global development.

“This is also Vietnam's wish when organizing this event and is also the message that Hanoi - City for Peace, member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, sends,” Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh emphasized.
According to the Organizing Committee, as of September 25, 48 embassies, international organizations, and foreign cultural centers in Vietnam had registered to participate in the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi.
Including 45 national cultural spaces, 33 food stalls, 16 international art troupes from within and outside the country, 12 units participating in book introductions, 20 countries sending films to participate in the film screening program...
At this event, in the world heritage space of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, cultures from all 5 continents in the world converged to introduce the cultural quintessence of their people.
Director of the Department of Grassroots Information and External Information Pham Anh Tuan announced the official website of the Festival.
Laos is the guest of honor at this year's festival. Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Nguyen Phuong Hoa said that Laos will send a large art troupe of artists to the festival to perform special art performances. In addition, in the next editions, each year, the festival will have one country as the guest of honor at the event.
At the press conference, Director Nguyen Phuong Hoa provided more information about the Festival.
Accordingly, the Festival will be held from October 3 to 5 at the Central Relic Site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center, Hanoi). The opening ceremony will be held on October 3. The closing ceremony will be held on October 5.
Events within the framework of the Festival include Hanoi World Culture Festival, Hanoi international cuisine program, film screenings, Hanoi international folk dance program, Hanoi international fine arts program, Hanoi international costume program, Ao Dai Festival, Hanoi International Book Festival and related supporting activities.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan informed that the Organizing Committee will update the Festival website with full information about the schedule and activities within the framework of the event. Along with that, the Organizing Committee will digitize the Festival space so that visitors who have not had the opportunity to come to the event can also experience this brilliant cultural space.
With the motto "Culture is the foundation - art is the means" , the World Cultural Festival in Hanoi, after being held for the first time in 2025, will aim to become an annual international cultural event in Hanoi.
The festival contributes to connecting countries and ethnic groups, promoting people-to-people exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding and trust between Vietnam and the international community; affirming the important role and contribution of culture in the implementation of the United Nations' sustainable development goals, ensuring peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
