OPENING CEREMONY OF THE HANOI WORLD CULTURE FESTIVAL 2025: A JOURNEY OF CULTURAL DISCOVERY
With the theme "Culture as the Foundation - Art as the Means," the first World Culture Festival in Hanoi is not only a large-scale cultural event but also a typical cultural diplomacy activity of Vietnam in 2025, aiming to become an annual event of international significance. The festival is positioned as a "multicolored celebration" - where culture becomes a common language connecting humanity.
Here, melodies, colors, flavors, and emotions intertwine in the open space of Thang Long Imperial Citadel - a symbol of the thousand-year-old civilization of the capital city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The opening ceremony took place on the central stage, combining artistic performances and stunning 3D mapping projections. Particularly noteworthy was the special ritual – the Prime Minister and other leaders painted a five-colored ceramic mural, symbolizing the cultural fusion between different ethnic groups.
During the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed many unique artistic performances from Vietnam and countries around the world. From Vietnamese folk melodies and religious traditions like "Co Doi Thuong Ngan" to traditional Lao dances and the vibrant drum rhythms of Latin American performances... All together created a cultural "harmony," where the audience clearly felt the spirit of integration and the celebration of global cultural diversity.
With the aim of celebrating cultural diversity and strengthening people-to-people exchanges, the World Cultural Festival also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and its international friends.
The event brought together 48 participating countries with: 45 national cultural spaces; 34 international food stalls; 23 domestic and international art troupes; 12 book and publishing units; and 22 countries participating in the international film screening program.
