Minister Nguyen Van Hung: The World Cultural Festival affirms the power of culture in connecting people with one another.
VHO - On the evening of October 12th at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the closing ceremony of the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi officially took place, concluding a three-day cultural journey filled with colors, sounds, and emotions.
Under the dazzling lights, melodies and dances imbued with the national spirit and the spirit of international integration blended together, creating a spectacular art night – where the essence of Vietnamese culture met and spread to friends from all over the world. This was also a moment for Hanoi , the heart of the country, to once again shine with the image of a dynamic, open, and humane city.

In his closing remarks at the festival, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that sustainable, innovative, and inclusive development has become the goal of many countries around the world . Vietnam is also on that common trajectory.

The Vietnamese Party and State have identified sustainable development based on cultural and human development as the foundation, while promoting foreign relations and international integration as crucial and ongoing. On the path to realizing this goal, a very important condition is the need for a peaceful and stable environment and effective cooperation among like-minded nations and partners.
"The Vietnamese nation, with its rich cultural heritage and heroic spirit, boasts thousands of years of history and a tradition of loving peace; always understanding and acting for stability and cooperation; always clearly recognizing and considering the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, respecting and protecting nature as a way of honoring tradition, ensuring the right to development for future generations, and guaranteeing the rapid and sustainable development of the country."

Minister Nguyen Van Hung delivered the closing remarks at the festival.
"Vietnamese people also uphold this mindset and bring that awareness into all activities and cooperation with other countries and partners. Vietnam is an active and responsible member of UNESCO, making positive contributions to the success of international frameworks and activities; especially in building, dialogue, and cooperation for peace and development," Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed.
The Minister stated that the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi was a vivid example; it originated from the initiative of Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, to organize an international cultural event in Hanoi – a place that celebrates the unique beauty of each nation, affirms the power of culture in connecting people, and is a vibrant picture of unity in the diversity of humanity.

With a sense of responsibility, proactiveness, and urgency, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hanoi City, and relevant agencies, prepared and solemnly organized the opening ceremony of the first World Cultural Festival at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi, on October 10th. The opening ceremony was honored to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who delivered a keynote address, as well as Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, distinguished domestic and international guests, and a large number of citizens and tourists.
The Minister added that, held over three days from the 10th to the 12th, the festival featured participation from 48 countries and international organizations, with many unique cultural spaces and events; from the " Cultural Road" exhibition to an international costume show with the theme " Footsteps of Heritage ," the Ao Dai festival, film screenings showcasing culture and art, a book fair, and activities introducing the culinary arts of various countries, as well as 30 international art performances, attracting over 1 million visitors.

“We have shared memorable days together, witnessing the wonderful intermingling of cultures from around the world in the historic Thang Long Imperial Citadel – a UNESCO World Heritage site. "Countries and international organizations have created spaces to showcase and promote the diversity and richness of cultures; jointly contributing to maintaining international peace and security by strengthening cooperation between nations on culture in accordance with UNESCO's principle – culture for peace ; affirming the pioneering role of culture in promoting international cooperation and building bridges of friendship between nations; implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, bringing common prosperity to the international community," Minister Nguyen Van Hung shared.

Singer Truc Nhan conveys a patriotic spirit through his songs "Prosperous Vietnam" and "Made in Vietnam".
More than just a heartwarming gathering of cultures from around the world, with the message " The world beats with love ," the festival organizers held an auction and charity fundraising program, raising a total of 2.5 billion VND. All funds will be transferred to localities in Vietnam affected by floods and heavy rains, to support the rebuilding of homes, schools, and other public infrastructure, and to help people rebuild their lives; spreading a powerful message of sharing and resilience.
The Minister expressed confidence that with the attention of the Party and State, the love of culture and the desire for cultural development of the Vietnamese people, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, and the enthusiastic support and participation of international partners, the World Culture Festival in Hanoi in subsequent editions will continue to leave a deep impression on the hearts of the Vietnamese people and international friends; making an important contribution to promoting cooperation.
